I love to take pictures of my cupcakes but lets be honest how many days are beautiful and sunny?
Not much, especially when I have the time to bake it's always dark by the time I'm done.
I was shopping around for a light box, which can be anywhere from $50+ and not very durable if they're under $100.
Well have no fear, you can get away cheap!
Cat from 3KidsAndUs actually posted a tuturoial on how to make a light box at home for under $10!
She also posted a link from Digital Photography School which Chris and I followed all the directions from both and it came out great! :)
Things I had to purchase
-Clamp Light- can find a local hardware store
-Halogen Light Bulb
-Tape
-Box -FREE :)
-Poster Board
-White Cloth
I spent a little over $15
First you start off with a plain old box. Any size will do.

Cut each side of the box, about 2 inches from the edge.
Cut the whole top off. Make sure to tape the bottom.

Cover all of the box inside borders with white paper, I used printer paper.

Cut a poster board to fit into your box it should have a slight slant.
Cover the opening sides -not front or back- with white cloth, as well as the top.

Final product
*TIP* Scrap book paper makes great backgrounds :)

Item pictured above is a magnet from Bored Inc. :)

3 Response to Light box?
Awesome! Yours came out great! Add a little more lighting and those photos will really pop. We ended up finally using 3 clip on lamps (left, right, top).
Yeah I know what you mean! I'm actually waiting for Home Depot to get more clamp lights. I totally agree one is NOT enough. :)
too cool. I missed that post, so I am glad i saw this!
