Sunday Baking..

Tomorrow is the end of the school year where I work. Some kids and staff won't be there for the summer program... So I wanted to make some goodies!!
I made around 70 mini oreo cupcakes and one dozen standard sized vanilla cupcakes in primary colors. I also made a small layer cake :)

Sylvia Weinstock's Yellow Cake

Okay so I tried her NEW recipe which I'm not going to put a recipe up because it was a total flop.
So after the failure of that I made the original one. The only addition to the new from the Original is a teaspoon of ground ginger and one cup of milk. I liked the ginger addition.. couldn't taste the ginger but the flavor was great! I did add a little splash of milk during the mixing of the butter and vanilla. But otherwise this is now the BEST yellow cake and it's definitely in my recipe book now!
I had to do something with the cake as I really just made it to try, so what else besides throw it out?? Have fun! :D
Pictures are sloppy I didn't intend on making them into cakes. But hey.. why waste a good cake?

Above, Fresh Sliced strawberries with buttercream dream frosting = Delish!

My new blender!!

Thanks so much to Bakespace! One day I stumbled upon this site and actually entered my Wake Up Smoothie without even realizing there was a Kitchen Aid appliance contest going on.. Next day I found out I won!! Pretty neat! Not only did I win a great blender but I found an amazing site with lots of recipes!! They also have a great forum where you can talk to other people who share your same baking/cooking interests! Hands down great site!!
Thanks so much again, Babette!
I can't wait to make smoothies all summer!!
I already have fresh frozen strawberries from mid-week.. here's a little photo of my gorgeous blueberries before freezing this morning.. yum!
