Kind of wordless.. I am never one who is short for words ;-)
We recently put in our car seat and wanted to get it inspected. Thankfully I did an excellent job of installing it, except for the fact that the middle of my backseat has a cup holder that drops down and doesn't lock into place. Didn't even realize that was there, seriously car companies! Please change this as it's useless to me. I'm so upset we can't have Mikaylee in the center and that she has to be on the right side. Another thing! They don't recommend mirrors, seat savors, or any toys in or on the car seat. I was upset about not being able to use a mirror, but when explained the dangers I agreed. Find a Car Seat Inspection Station in your area.
Did you take your car seat to be inspected?

We will. Our first infant seat gets here in a week or two. I want to make sure I know how to install it!
ReplyDeleteI've never seen a car seat inspection place - so nope, I've never had mine inspected.
ReplyDeleteThis is located where our State Police Departmemt is. They're all trained and certified :)
ReplyDeleteI love that there is an actual place to go for car seat inspections! Now you've got me wondering if my area has it too!
ReplyDeleteYep - when I had my car seat inspected with my first the first thing I did was throw the sun visors I had in the trash can! Two words - projectile missile
ReplyDeleteGood for you! I used to do this once or twice a year when I had the infant carseats.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen one of these before, so I've never had them inspected, but I definitely wish I could!
ReplyDeleteOhhh... this means your close to seeing your baby girl! Congrats!!!
ReplyDeleteYes! I was never sure if I had it installed correctly, so I would get it checked out.
ReplyDeleteNo and we probably should of back in the day!
ReplyDeleteNo, I never did (bad parent) But I have heard you can take them to the local fire dept.
ReplyDeleteA very useful service!
ReplyDeleteI had no idea they had this service. Probably because I have no kids but that is great they do!
ReplyDeleteI always knew I should have, but I never did have our carseats inspected. Thankfully, my kids are a bit older now and we've yet to be in an accident.
ReplyDeleteLiving in NYC, I dont drive but it's still important to make sure car seats are installed properly.
ReplyDeleteI have never had any of the car seats inspected but probably should have. It's amazing the little facts we don't know about car seat safety better safe than sorry!
ReplyDeleteI didn't know there were places like this to have a car seat inspected. To my defense, I've never had an infant.
ReplyDeleteWe had our brother-in-law double check it. I do have a mirror that attaches to the headrest in front of the car seat.
ReplyDeleteWe didn't have ours inspected but you'll appreciate having the seat by the door instead of in the middle. The seat will get very heavy to move around and having by the door will make it that much easier.
ReplyDeleteEvery parent should get this done.
ReplyDeletegood for you. I've been seeing so many babies in car seats recently that are not in correctly.
ReplyDeleteKudos to you! We did use a mirror ... but only looked at red lights and such. It was good for that if you can be self disciplined!
ReplyDeleteYep, we absolutely had them inspected, and each time we bought a new seat we had them inspected, too. Car seat safety is something I'm super passionate about!
ReplyDeleteI have heard of this service, but have never used it. I think it is great for those that are new parents especially!
ReplyDeleteTo be discharged from the NICU with my older daughter we had to have one of the nurses check out our installation.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure (my husband took care of that stuff) but it's a great job he did.
ReplyDeleteI had no idea that car seat inspection centers even existed.
ReplyDeleteOur local fire dep does this and it's amazing how many things we think are "ok" when it comes to "accessorizing" a car seat!
ReplyDeleteGood point, Cat! Beth, it's not so much the distraction than it is a hazard if there was to be an accident or it falling on baby.
ReplyDeleteI didn't even know these existed? I need to tell the hubby & check and see if they're in our state. People show up at the fire station all the time asking him if their seat is installed correctly. He hasn't put a baby in a car seat in over 20 years so he's NOT the right person to ask! :)
ReplyDeleteWe took our infant seats to be inspected, then went again when we switched to the toddler seats. When we move to the boosters, we'll go again. To think such a simple step can save a child's life, my child's life, should an accident occur!
ReplyDeleteI didn't know they had these when my kids were young.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure we have any in our area. I'd love to know...I think I'll look that up.
ReplyDeleteMost car seats will not proceed with a claim if you use anything like pads, mirrors, or any thing not given to you with the car seat. Better to be safe! Glad you found out this information!
ReplyDeleteGood for you! I'm sorry about the cupholder in the way. Sometimes car makers can be really frustrating.
ReplyDeleteI've heard of these inspections before and think it's a great idea!
ReplyDeleteI had a friend who was certified in car seat safety and she checked mine for me. I'm thankful for the service.
ReplyDeleteI didn't even know they did inspections like this. That's fantastic!
ReplyDeleteGood for you! We were bad and never had it inspected as we were confident we did it right. That probably wasn't a good idea so fortunately we didn't get into any accidents when my daughter was young. Who knew about that the cup holder thing?!
ReplyDeleteI guess it's high time for me to get mine expected since my daughter will born any day now.
ReplyDeleteWe've been meaning to do this for forever...thanks for posting the link!
ReplyDeleteSomeone from the hospital went down with my hubby and inspected it before they allowed us to leave with our son. :)
ReplyDeleteI didn't even know this was something you could do! But I always hear about people installing their car seats wrong, so it's a great resource to have.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know they had this. It's good to have as a resource.
ReplyDeleteI had a friend who used to be a car seat inspector, so she taught us how to properly install the seats. It's amazing how many people don't have their seats properly installed.
ReplyDeleteGOOD FOR YOU! This is so critical -- local fire departments will do this for you too.
ReplyDeleteOur fire department does local inspections here. It is great to know that they have that available.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a wonderful service!
ReplyDeleteThat is really an awesome service!! Car seat safety starts with the installation!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great service!
ReplyDeleteSo smart to take it in! I love that FDs have these here in Phx.
ReplyDeleteAlthough not being able to keep her in the middle is a pain, at least you're aware of the issue so you can keep her extra safe!
ReplyDeleteWe definitely always went and had our car seats inspected too. It is ht only way you can be sure.
