Another place I'd love to go as a family is Las Vegas. You didn't know there's plenty of other things to do in Vegas other than gambling? Tons of great places to go, eat and even a Dolphin Aquarium! Oooh what about Pennsylvania Hershey Park has always been a place I wanted to visit. I heard that air you breath smells like chocolate.. Now that definitely cannot be a bad thing!
I'd even enjoy going to upstate New York and staying at a bed and breakfast. That is something my husband and I have talked about but never actually went through with! Not one of those haunted ones though, freaks me out!
Before baby my husband and I loved to go to Wildwood and Atlantic City every summer. One thing I loved was eating... they have so many buffets! I will never forget when my favorite one closed. They had the best mashed potatoes I've EVER had.. So sad. Those are still places we plan on taking the baby, but I want to start new traditions while keeping the old ones also. They're both kid-friendly, but I want more and exciting things than just the shore and boardwalk. When I grew up my parents took my to Florida every summer and it's still the most memorable times of my life.
Where do you go on vacation? Any tips for traveling with baby?

If you're going to travel with baby, avoid road trips for sure! Stick to short plane rides and places that have hotel rooms big enough for cribs! :)
ReplyDeleteAfter we had our son, we stopped staying in hotels... has to be condos, cabins, house rentals, etc. It's just what is more comfortable for us! :) We love the beaches and the mountains, so we love getting a condo or beach house oceanfront and/or a cabin in the mountains. We live near the Smokies, so we do a cabin at least once a year.
ReplyDeleteI have been taking my kids to the zoo since they were babies. It's a nice family getaway.
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous view! It's been awhile since we've been on a family vacation, but we used to do theme parks.
ReplyDeleteDisney with a 1 year old is actually really fun. There is a ton for them to do and of course seeing their eyes light up to see all those characters on TV come to life. Will she remember it? Probably not but she will have fun and of course the pictures of her 1st time at Disney that young will always be there.
ReplyDeleteWhen we only had one child, we could go anywhere. The day after we were granted guardianship of our oldest (part of the private adoption process,) we were on a plane for Vegas! HEHE! When she was 3, we took a long vacation to Ireland. I was pregnant with my son and we decided it was a now or never thing. We had a blast. We haven't done much traveling since the boys were born (2004, 2007) but we own a WorldMark timeshare and we love staying in those resorts. We don't enjoy eating out much anymore, so we appreciate the full kitchens that WorldMark resorts have, we also love the separate bedrooms, swimming pools, multiple bathrooms, washer and drier in the room and all the other amenities WorldMark offers. We've stayed in Victoria BS, Oceanside, CA, Tuscon, AZ, and Bend, OR. All are super nice, great for families and so economical.
ReplyDeleteWe went on one trip with our son (Boston) but are not sure about more…it can be hard.
ReplyDeleteAtlantic City is fun!
ReplyDeleteI think-especially at the age of one, it's about the journey and not the destination. Wherever you go, I imagine will be filled with fond memories.
Awww Looks like a great place! Our favorite spot is definitely Disney World. We have gone every year since my oldest was 3 and are going again in 18 days!
ReplyDeleteI took my 9-month old to San Diego on a plane and she slept both ways the entire time. The trip was a breeze for us!
ReplyDeleteWe're still deciding where to go next year. Disney World is always a win!
ReplyDeleteWe're planning for Disney in the Spring.
ReplyDeleteWe always stayed close to home when the kids were really young! We did go to the San Diego Zoo and the beach, both were successes.
ReplyDeleteMake sure you have everything you need in your diaper bag for the length of day you will be out and about. There is nothing worse than running out of diapers/wipes etc.
