Having a clean house is extremely important. Cleaning a house without harsh chemicals is even more important, especially with a baby around. Seventh Generation and Real Simple have launched the "Clean House Challenge" Facebook App. This app lets you explore a virtual house to find prizes and coupons while also providing you with excellent tips on how to have a clean healthy green home! You can browse each room in the house and discover little tips, how to care for certain finishes, and even has videos for viewing. I'm always looking to make sure that I can clean my house without using something that could be toxic. Which is why we choose to use only natural products, like those of Seventh Generation.
Since the baby is here we have switched a lot of our products out. My husband was hesitant at first and thought that these products didn't compare to ones that he was used to using. Have you ever read any of the labels on the products you use? Those popular disinfecting wipes that you use to clean up messes after your kiddo? Have you ever read the line where it says keep away from children? I want a product that is safe for my family, but also does it's job effectively. Which is why I love the new app by Real Simple and Seventh Generation. Their experts compiled all these tips for us to care for our homes, families, and of course our planet.
Once you're done touring the virtual rooms you'll be rewarded with discount coupons for Seventh Generation and a facebook badge to show that you know how to keep a green home! If you complete every room in the house Seventh Generation will donate 10 dollars (up to $15,000) to 350.org, an environmental organization focused on solving the climate crisis!
So let's get to cleaning, shall we? Seventh Generation sent me products from their new home care products. They have three specialty cleaners that are all Certified Biobased products made from non-toxic, biodegradability formulas. All three cleaners are made with a unique blend of plant-base ingredients and organic coconut oil (I use that for cooking!) They come in 18oz bottles and are available online for $4.99 each.
Wood: Previously I would just use a microfiber cloth on my wood cabinet, now I can use their wood cleaner and know that there's no harsh chemicals in the air for the baby.
While I don't have granite or stone, I know many have it in their kitchen. I'm sure this product will be a hit in those homes.
Stainless Steel: I have always struggled with this. My husband and I went to the store and looked at various stainless steel cleaners and couldn't bring it in the house because of the long list of warnings. Seventh Generation has succeeded in making a product that I can proudly bring into my home, use safely, and know that their going to deliver the results I need without harsh chemicals or fumes.
Seventh Generation's Hand Care
Dish Liquid is a USDA Certified Bio-based Product with fragrances from
essential oils and botanical extracts. The formula is non-toxic,
biodegradable and contains Advanced HerbaVera™ Moisturizing Technology,
so it’s gentle on both your hands and the earth. I don't want something that contains anything that can harm my family, and I am switching to this soap. You can find it in 18
oz. bottles online for $3.49 each.
Baby laundry is a daily chore around here. Babies have such fragile skin and that's why I trust their Natural Laundry Detergent Packs! They are USDA Certified Bio-based Product containing no dyes, synthetic fragrances, nor optical brighteners. They can be used in hot or cold water. You can also find them online for purchasing in two sizes: 30 Count – $9.99 and 50 Count - $14.99.
