The benefits of oil pulling are something I’ve been searching for well over a month now. The thought of swishing around oil in my mouth for 15-20 minutes wasn’t my idea of fun or tasty, but it’s for my health! What better reason could you ask for? I’ve had dental issues since the age of 16 thanks to the massive amounts of soda and tea my parents gave me. I rarely had water to drink and gagged at the thought back then – now it’s all I drink! By oil pulling you actually draw out all the toxins and bacteria, so you don’t want to swallow it!
HOW TO – OIL PULLING
At the crack of dawn, as soon as you open your eyes, open your mouth to coconut oil! Take about a teaspoon to a tablespoon of coconut oil and place it between your cheek to liquefy. Once it’s liquid, start swishing! Swish for about 15-20 minutes, drawing the oil between your teeth too! Eventually, your muscles will get used to it, but for now, just keep pushing!! YOU CAN DO IT! Once you’re done spit it out into the garbage, not the sink, drain, or toilet, as it can clog once it hardens. DO NOT SWALLOW, as the oil now contains all the toxins you just pulled.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
Now you have to clean your teeth and make sure you get all the toxic yuck out. Rinse with a little water and brush as you normally would.
AM I CRAZY?
Yes, maybe a little about my HEALTH. You should be too, no?

I have never tried oil-pulling but am curious now. I can vouch for Thieves for sure! It’s kept the kids well over the winter. So thankful for Young Living oils and glad they are helping you too!
Jess
Ok, thats awesome! Will have to try!
Thanks for the info! Love my YL oils!
Rhonda
Love Young Living Thieves oil and coconut oil!!! So many wonderful uses – I wonder how I got along without them! Diffusing Thieves is our go to for keeping germs and viruses away!
Jodi
I just read somewhere else about oil pulling and wished I knew of someone else who has done it! Direct intervention!

This is so funny because I was just looking up about oil pulling yesterday. I have bad gums and they are receding. My grandma went and had gum scraping and surgery several times and it cost a fortune but didn’t help. I don’t have the money to waste on paint that won’t work. So, I have been looking into natural methods. Going to start tonight before bed and then every morning and night from now on.

I have never tried Thieves but I hear such wonderful things about it. We do use Tropical Traditions coconut oil, it’s the best!
Candace

Feliss (Two Little Cavaliers)
Never heard of oil pulling before. I think I would have to work my way up to 15 – 20 minutes considering there are mornings I gag just brushing my teeth. Though maybe the peppermint or cinnamon would help.
susan
this is a great natural remedy. I will have to try this out the next tooth ache.

I have had about 5 friends talk about oil pulling just this morning! What a coincidence! I haven’t tried it. But curious about it. But I do use essential oils all the time in our home, for home remedies and naturally scenting the house. No more candles unless we have a power outage here. 😉

I’ve never tried oil pulling but I just heard about it last week from two different people! I use Tropical Traditions in my baking in the place of veggie oil all the time!
Jennifer Soltys
Love essential oils, too, but I don’t know enough about them at all. Never heard of Thieves, or that you can use it for a toothache. That is so useful!!!
Tammi @ My Organized Chaos
I have heard SO MUCH about Oil Pulling these last few days, I need to give it a try. And, I thank you for the info on Theives. I saw it at the pharmacy a couple weeks ago and while I recognized all the other oils in the section, I was stumped on this one and didn’t know what it was for. Perfect timing to read this – so, thank you!!

I’ve tried old pulling several times and really struggle. Guuuuuuuuurl, it’s so hard to keep it in your mouth! I know you’re right thought and I should just get into a habit! Sigh!
Mindy Grant

I hadn’t heard of oil pulling or Thieves before. So do you swish for 15 to 20 minutes or 15-20 seconds? Minutes is a lot – I don’t know if I’d have time for that everyday. I hope it’s just seconds.
Cassie
It’s minutes. I’ve read about it on a few different sites (this is the most recent) and people start it before getting ready in the morning and do it while running around or whatever morning chores, etc. Supposedly after awhile you get used to it and it doesn’t seem daunting anymore.
I need to get some coconut oil, I keep reading good things about using it and I think this may be the… straw that fixed the camel’s back? hehe
Pauline Cabrera
I’m really curious with oil pulling! In fact, I never thought that coconut oil can be used for oral health. This is a new discovery for me and I hope more and more people would know about this technique. Thanks for sharing! 🙂
Heather @ It's a Lovely Life!
I feel like I love under a rock. I’ve never heard of either before. I love to cook and bake with coconut oil… but I’ve never heard it used for either of those before.
Melissa
I have heard a lot about this recently. I will have to try it out.

I have been wanting to try this but I have to psych myself up. I’m such a gagger in the morning. I’m definitely ordering some of the theives oil. Thanks for the great info! 🙂
Oh to Be a Muse
I just heard about oil pulling last week. Very interested. Are you sure you have to swish in your mouth for 20 minutes? That seems so long!
Cassie
I’ve been looking into this and I really think I need to try it! I’ve had problem teeth (and gums) for a really long time and this seems like it would at least help a bit. I keep reading about using coconut oil for things and this seems like a good extra push into getting some and using it.
I should also look into the Thieves Oil, sounds really helpful.
Julia Chiang
definitely will give coconut oil a try
Liz Ticona
Wow I had no idea we could clean our teeth with these oils…that’s amazing and great to know. now a days when most of the things we use in everyday life have so many harmful chemicals for us and our kids it’s good to know that we have other options 🙂
