Since I was a little girl I've been eating pitas. Stuffed, plain, as chips, and I love them especially when they're homemade. I actually found a brand that I really like from my local Walmart and they're Whole Wheat too! My favorite way to eat a pita is stuffed with protein and veggies with a little hummus! Talking about hummus.. My pregnancy I didn't have it once so I've been on a hummus kick that last month. With pretzels and of course with my pita! So while making this recipe I learned three things..
- I take TOO many pictures.
- I use TOO many seasonings.
- I should have made double so we'd have leftovers..
3 Chicken Breasts (boneless and skinless)
An even sprinkling of the following:
Lawry's Seasoned Salt, Cumin, Paprika Chipotle Seasoning, Cayenne, Oregeno, Parsley, Black Pepper, Chili Powder, Onion Powder, Garlic Powder, and Woreshicre Sauce.
Olive Oil for Pan
1/4 Cup Lemon-Lime Seltzer Water
Pitas
Hummus
1 Cucumber, sliced

Sprinkle the million and one seasonings on the chicken and last but not least splash on the Worcestershire sauce.

Then slice the chicken breasts like so,

Give them a little toss so the flavor and million and one seasonings can get into each piece!

Place in a hot skillet on medium heat with olive oil. Once browned flip over. When they're just about cooked pour in a little seltzer and let cook until pan is almost dry.

Meanwhile toast your pita - CUT before placing into the toaster oven (pocket gets hot if not and you can really burn yourself) Let it cool slightly and smear hummus on one or both sides (inside of course!)

Arrange some lovely sliced cukes inside

Then stuff in the chicken and enjoy!

ReplyDeleteOh, very nice! Reminds me a lot of the old Turkish takeout place that used to be next to where I lived. You should try shredded cabbage in there, too - sounds awful, but the cool crunchiness works lovely against the meat.
