    Co-Sleeping while on vacation

We were away last week, not on a vacation but this method definitely applies for sleeping away somewhere else while on vacation or just not at home.  We spent the night over Sweet Pea’s house who is Sweet Baby’s BFF and slept there for 6 nights.  Since we co-sleep I must say I was kind of nervous how she’d sleep and how to do it safely.

    Co-sleeping while on vacation

First and foremost I wanted my daughter to be comfortable and have something we usually do at home so we brought our Tiny Love “boom box” and I went to the store to pick up a few things so we could make the sleep area perfect.  Chris had a full size bed to sleep on and Mikaylee and I had a twin mattress that we put against the wall on the floor.  I picked up a twin sheet, two pool noodles, and a set of adjustable sheet straps.  The sheet straps ensure that I get a tight and really snug fit with the sheet making the bed nice and taut without any bunched up sheet.

I put a fitted sheet folded in half on the bed to put under the sheet so we weren’t laying directly on the mattress with a sheet only that may make the pool noodles slide around.

Along the side that touched the wall I put a thick pool noodle so if baby tried to roll over she’d roll into the noodle.  I then took the second pool noodle and cut it in half and place it along the top and bottom.   I slept on the outside so if she rolled into me she’d just get snuggles 🙂  Of course we also brought our Snuza so that if for any reason baby stopped breathing or had difficulties mommy would know right away! (Be sure to enter our giveaway to win a Snuza of your own!)

Overall it worked really well – and we had no issues with this set up!  I actually kind of like it a little better than our bed rail and have since added some pool noodles to our set up. 🙂

I have seen the pool noodle idea on Pinterst but never knew anyone who had tried it. I’m really happy it worked for you!

Once my son was rolling – he rolled right over the noodles and on to the floor while we were in FL. I think he was 7 months… Thankfully I was awake, and it wasn’t a far fall. I do like the sheet strap!

That’s why I placed the mattress on the ground against the wall – I definitely do not recommend it on a mattress that is supported by a frame and box spring. We have a guardrail for our bed in addition to the pool noodles now 🙂

That is great that those pool things can come in handy for other things.

The pool noodle is a great idea! I need to remember that. My son kept falling off the bed when we were on vacation last year.

What a fantastic idea. My son is big enough that we don’t worry about this anymore.

That’s brilliant! My son would only nap by co-sleeping when he was younger and there were many times I could have used this to escape for a shower or a tea. I am bookmarking this for the next little one!!!
