Celebrating Pascua Easter Party Plan and Recipes

For our family, Easter has always been about getting together and celebrating the resurrection of Jesus. While the Easter Bunny and Rabbits are fun, it’s not the focus for our celebration. During Pascua and Holy week, instead of hiding the candy it’s on a table for us all to enjoy.

I am always in charge of the sweets and we love making cocada into nests. I place a layer of the shredded coconut (which is why I have two bags) onto a charger so it doesn’t stick. Cocada is a sticky and sweet dessert. On the positive, you get some uncooked coconut, yummers! You will love this Mexican cocada recipe!

How to make Cocadas

First you need sweetened condensed milk and sweetened coconut flakes, these are the two main ingredients to make cocadas.

  1. Preheat oven to 350.
  2. In a large bowl combine the unsweetened coconut and condensed milk.
  3. Place on an unbleached parchment lined cookie sheet and shape into Easter Egg nests.
  4. Bake the cocadas recipe for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  5. Allow the cocada to cool and drizzle with ganache then top with M&M’s® Easter Eggs.
  6. The cocadas can be a little sticky so we serve on a layer of shredded coconut

There is a printable cocadas recipe below (cocadas receta)

Cocads are so easy to make that we even made a fun video!

I also made spicy chocolate cupcakes using my best chocolate cake recipe – SO good! You’d be surprised how well spice and chocolate go together. I topped them with Ganache and then placed milk and dark DOVE® Chocolate Eggs on top for a pretty topper.

To make it spicy you just need to add: 1/2-1 teaspoon cayenne powder (less or more depending on your heat tolerance) plus 1 teaspoon cinnamon.

We do have Easter baskets, but it’s definitely not the focus of the day. By using the tray with mason jars it’s easier to share and take what you want. This also helps my family get to take whatever they want home. The mason jars are affordable at Walmart and the candy looks so cute in the jars. I just give them lids and happy day! 🙂 If you want to keep it for the full 2 weeks you could easily just keep in the entrance way of your home. Easy for your guests to grab a little goody for their stay, or when they leave. It’s so pretty to have out!Celebrating Pascua Easter Party Plan and Recipes

I place the Starburst® Jellybeans and Easter M&M’s® into the mason jars and then in the tray I put the sealed candies like the DOVE® Chocolate Eggs and Skittles® Easter bags.

I like to set up my table so that everyone can gather and talk while they’re picking up their goodies. We typically have breakfast really early so the party after Mass is just sweets for us. I like to keep my guests fed well so I create a bunch of options. I also love to see their reactions to my decor!

Decorating is probably one of my favorite parts of setting up. My favorite way to do this is by picking ONE color and then going from there.

For this reason I chose gold as my accent and white as my backgrounds. My backdrop behind the table I used some almost sheer fabric that I doubled up to make. The table cloth is a plastic white one that is super affordable. I then found a gold streamer on sale and had to have it! It was a really small roll so I just made lines across the table.

Easter Sunday is a day where we celebrate with family and friends. We all go to Mass together where we celebrate quietly and then of course once we get home we get a little louder. 😉 Music, food, dancing, fun and most importantly family. It’s all about being together. We take off of work if we typically work on the weekends and reserve the entire weekend for family. Many companies give their employees a week or more off for Pascua!

Once we all get settled into the party we can each make our own plate and just enjoy.

I make everything the night before so I can just relax on Easter Sunday with my family and friends.

I made this fruit salsa recipe from Know Your Produce and it’s SO good and perfect with our homemade cinnamon tortilla chips. To keep with the bright and light colors we made Blood Orange Lemonade too!

What a pretty tablescape! I’m a huge coconut fan, so I can’t wait to try making those cute nests. My husband is a spice and chocolate fan- I’d love to try them for his upcoming birthday. Happy Easter!
