Gingerbread house fun has begun! Last year Kay could barely eat anything that you would put on a gingerbread house, let alone the structure of the house. This year she has so many safe foods that we’re able to make any gingerbread house her little heart desires! We went to our local Walmart to purchase Honey Maid Graham Crackers and a few candies to decorate our gingerbread house. I had a few Holiday Recipes in my head and who doesn’t enjoy baking with graham crackers?? They make the best cheesecake crust! Kay and I have never made a gingerbread house so it was finally time to make our own! Of course I wanted her to have a full experience and taste everything so what would be more fun that being able to dip the house into a cinnamon cream cheese dip? The dip doubles as glue / spackle to hold Graham Cracker houses together. We love holiday recipes and holiday baking together. Family is so important to me and this is one of my favorite family holiday ideas so far.
It’s fun to make everything from scratch especially when your child has a food allergy. Honey Maid Graham Crackers are her favorite and now she has a delicious cinnamon cream cheese dip to enjoy too! Our cream cheese dip is super simple to make too!
Cinnamon Cream Cheese Dip (hubby said it reminded him of a childhood favorite dip!)
1 lb of Powdered Sugar + 2 Bars of Cream Cheese + 3/4 Teaspoon Cinnamon + 1 teaspoon Tahitian vanilla extract (or regular, just make sure it’s real!) mix using a stand mixer or hand mixer and enjoy!
Kay had too much fun picking out different candies and putting them on her gingerbread house. She really enjoyed snacking the entire time too, who can blame her? 🙂
We also wanted to bake something with the Honey Maid Graham Crackers so we made:
Personal S’mores Dip
preheat oven to 350
crush up some graham crackers
sprinkle in some mini marshmallows
sprinkle in some chocolate chips
top with more graham cracker crumbs
bake for 2-3 minutes, or until ooey gooey
We had so much fun making our gingerbread house as a family! Kay enjoyed it the most of course! It got a little messy with the coconut flakes and snow angels, but it was so worth the mess! I can’t wait to do it all again next year!!!
