    christmas rice krispie treats

We’re Christmas obsessed over here. I told Kaylee that we had a new book coming and it was Santa Bruce by Ryan T. Higgins! We had no clue what the book was about, but have loved all the previous Bruce Books and right away we went to the kitchen. My daughter wanted to make Christmas Rice Krispie Treats so we got to work.

Once the book came and we were ready to enjoy our treats while we read our new book!

She quickly put her new Santa Bruce ornament on her mini tree and we got to reading. By the end of the book she was asking for crackers, you’ll have to read the book to see why. 🙂

We like putting them into a little box when we give as gifts. These would be perfect along with our homemade white chocolate nonpareils.

Will this work without the choc chips?

Yes, I’d add more marshmallows to compensate.

Do you think this will work with plain cheerios or corn flakes? I am having a hard time finding Rice Krispies at the store.

We couldn’t find them recently either so instead, we actually used the store brand crispies cereal and it tasted perfect! We’re not sure how the flavor would be with other cereals. We have made them with fruit pebbles, but that’s not so easy to adapt for the holiday 🙂

      Can you freeze them?

Yes! To freeze, you want to allow them to be completely set. I like to place on parchment paper and flash freeze and then place them into a freezer-safe bag. You can freeze for up to 3 months. 🙂

Can I put in a pan instead of making balls? And if so what size?

Yes! We’ve also made them in a casserole dish. I’d say anything from 9×9 to 9×13.

Mine didn’t come out as pretty as yours but they taste fantastic. My sprinkles kinda bled/melted!?!? Any suggestions on that?
      Thanks

Hi Rita! Aren’t they delicious!! 😀 What kind of sprinkles did you use? We haven’t had issues with the dye coming off, but maybe if the mixture is too hot or if you used regular sprinkles, not nonpareils or hardier sprinkles, possibly?
