    Bread and Butter

I love bread, but I really love fresh bread right out of the oven.
I’ve never made bread before, and decided for Thanksgiving I was going to try it out.
For my first try I was impressed! It was delicious and everyone gobbled it up! 🙂

I figured while I was making bread homemade, why not make homemade butter?
Yeah, pretty much the best idea ever.
Not only can you control the flavorings in the butter, you can actually limit the salt which I love.
    So you want the recipe?
    Of course I’ll share!!

    Crusty White Bread

    Ingredients:

    • 3 Cups Lukewarm Water 105°F
    • 32 ounces Flour (if not using by weight 6 1/2 packed cups)
    • 1 Tablespoon Salt
    • 1 1/2 Tablespoons Instant Yeast
Mix together the yeast and the water, let it do it’s thing.
Then add in the salt and flour and using a stand mixer mix until the dough comes together.
Place your dough in a big enough bowl, as it will rise about 3x it’s size.
Make sure to cover the dough with saran wrap as it keeps it from getting a crust.
Let sit at room temperature for at least 2hours.
Then place into the refrigerator for another 2 hours.
On a floured surface shape the dough how you’d like it to end up after baking.
    Preheat your oven to 450°F
Let the dough rest for about 45-50 minutes.
Once the bread is rested using a good knife create a few slashes in the bread.
Place the bread on a parchment lined cookie sheet, and place in the oven.
On the lower rack place a shallow sheet pan with 1 cup of hot water.
Bake for 25-35 minutes, or until golden brown.
    Homemade Butter
    Homemade Roasted Garlic Parsley Butter

    Ingredients:
    • 4 Cups of Heavy Cream
    • 3 Roasted Garlic Gloves, Minced*
    • 1 Teaspoon Fresh Parsley, Chopped
    • Salt to Taste
In your stand mixer using the splatter guard whip the four cups of heavy cream.
It would start our thick like whip cream then slowly end up chunky..
Once it becomes chunky add in your minced garlic, parsley, and salt.
Keep beating, it should become a mass with liquid.
Once you see the liquid strain the liquid and toss.
You my friend.. now have amazing homemade butter.
*To make Roasted Garlic, take your garlic cloves and peel.
Place them in a tin foil packet with about 1/2 – 1 teaspoon Olive oil.
Bake at 450°F for about 15-20 minutes.

Your homemade bread turned out beautiful and perfect…like something I’d find in a bakery. It must have smelled wonderful when baking!

I have never made homemade bread but have wanted to for years. I am thinking of buying a bread machine since I love to cook and I love bread.

I love homemade bread, I think I should get out my bread maker and make a few loaves, so much better than store bought.
