The best way to keep a wood floor clean. Clean it often. On a typical week I will go around the house with the broom about 4-5 days out of the 7. The past week I only did it once and then went around with my new Dyson DC41 Animal Complete that we were sent to review. I even let baby get a little messy in her high chair which she does on a daily basis and left it there on the floor just waiting for the Dyson to swoop it up! I’m always busy – being a mommy there’s never too much down time because I’m also a housewife as well as a blogger. There’s always something that needs to be done around here and I’m so sick of busting a sweat sweeping all over and under everything. My favorite part about sweeping is when you go around with the broom and then realize you missed little bits and pieces.. isn’t that the greatest?
For us the true test for the Dyson was how well it would pick up all these little amazing bits that the broom left behind – and baby tossed about all over. While the Dyson works great on carpets, it works just as well on wooden floors and that’s why we’re head over heels. All you need to do is just turn the brush roll off and let the suction go wild as you literally dance across the floor. Effortless cleaning ya’ll, effortless.
Why do I need an animal one might ask? This little one is pretty wild 😉
About Dyson: 1,500 Dyson people are engineers and scientists. Dyson has in-house expertise in fluid, mechanical, electrical, EMC, thermal, chemical, acoustic, and software engineering, and an in-house microbiology team which breeds colonies of dust mites. Dyson invests £1.5 million a week on research and development and has doubled the number of engineers employed at its UK research and development laboratories in the past two years. Dyson technology is available in over 67 countries.
The Sweet:
- Maneuverability – effortless moving around the house thanks to the ball. Cliche, but it turns on a dime!
- Automatically adjusts to any floor surface – long bristles penetrate deep into carpets and shorter remove dust and pet hair.
- Radial Root Cyclone™ technology, never loses suction
- Includes a Tangle-free Turbine Tool – pet hair will not tangle, edge to edge cleaning.
- Captures Allergens and expels cleaner air (catches particles such as pollen and mold)
- 5 Year Warranty
- Hose is attached to the handle – clean, sleek, and less cumbersome.
- Built to survive – 10 years of estimated use/durability.
- Comes with a tote/carrier for all tools
The Not So Sweet:
- Price, it can be a huge factor however after we’ve been through 3 vacuums that weren’t cheap in the past 4 years it’s definitely an investment that would pay off in the long run.
- While it has a long cord for the price we’re big fans of retractable cords.

I replaced my old Dyson Animal (the purple one) with this new one a few months ago and LOVE it. My only issue is the way they redesigned the wand/handle. The older version was easier to use.
Courtney
Cat, I do have concerns about how it will hold up since the handle and hose are one. That being said I know Dyson’s are built to last – I’ve never used the previous animal. We have the Dyson City and it was great when we had a smaller space – this thing really tackles it all 🙂

Oh I wouldn’t worry about it holding up. They always manage to do that. You’d have to use the older Dyson to know what I mean, the design was just more convenient.
Courtney
I just gave my mother in law my 9 month old vacuum and the hose completely fell out (Not a Dyson!) so I guess that’s why I have that concern haha. I do love everything about this vacuum. Especially the color!! 🙂

I have the Animal (DC15, I think) and like it, but I can’t wait to upgrade to the DC41! I am really excited about what it could do to keep my floors clean – especially with 4 cats and 2 kids!
Courtney
This will definitely eat up all those messes they leave behind 🙂

I have the smaller Dyson (the one you have to charge) that I bought myself for my birthday, and while I love it I am dying to upgrade to this one so I don’t have to charge it for 4 hours to get 12 minutes of vacuum time…with two kids under 5 I need to be able to vacuum WAY more than that!
This vacuum is is pretty and I am just dying to have one!
Courtney
I hear you! I had a rechargeable vacuum thinking it would be better to zip around – the thing died before I had a chance to make it to the bedrooms. I love to be thorough so being plugged really allows me to do that 🙂 I feel like the rechargeable is great for quick pick ups and especially in the car!

I agree that buying several lower-priced vacuums over the coarse of a few years is not as smart as buying one higher priced vacuum that lasts a long time.
Courtney
Such a great investment for sure. I did the same with kitchen mixers until I got one that out beat them all 🙂 Live and learn is so true.
Andrea
I just got a similar Dyson to review and I’m loving mine so far too. Great review Courtney!
Courtney
Look forward to reading your review, Andrea! We love our Dyson products! 🙂

My heart longs for a Dyson!!! I have heard how nice they are but right now I can’t really afford to go buy one as they are a bit pricey!

I have the canister of this one (the yellow) and I really like it. I have to say that I am a big jealous of your pink one.
Whitney Jordan
Oh I love the color on this vacuum! Hoping one day I will have a Dyson!
Amanda

I love my Dyson. It’s 7 years old and still sucking up strong like the day I bought it. We even ended up buying one of their hand held vacs because I loved it so much. I’d really like to try one of these new ones because of that turbine tool on the bottom, that’s cool. But honestly, how can I justify buying a new one, when mine still works great?! (And I too went through 3 vacuums before I got my Dyson. It was a great investment).

I’ve heard good things about the Dyson Animal. I’ve never gotten to try a Dyson.
Virginia @thatbaldchick
Will have to keep this in mind, since we now have all wood floors!
Donna
I’m in desperate need of a new vacuum. And believe it or not, no one I know has a Dyson… I’d love to try one to show them how nice they are! 🙂
Penelope (NYC Blogger)
I know it’s not important, but that pink design on the vacuum makes it look extra cool 🙂 I hear good things about Dyson.
Jennifer Mecurio
I’ve always wanted a Dyson. I would completely die for a pink one. Plus, we have 2 dogs that shed like crazy.
the price is a little steep but I’m okay with a high price if the item does what it’s suppose to do and does it for a long time.
Lolo
I have been wanting one of these for awhile! I love your pink one!

I’ve been eyeing this vac for a while. Maybe for Christmas!
