Lately I’ve been trying to eat a lot more oatmeal to increase my breastmilk supply. However Kay cannot eat oatmeal due to her FPIES food allergy. She kept asking for my oatmeal instead of her cereal and it broke my heart. 🙁 The fix? Quinoa! Yesterday morning we made Oat Free Quinoa Oatmeal Breakfast and we both loved it! The banana in the quinoa gave it the similar texture to oatmeal. Plus when you quinoa it falls all over, instead when you use the banana it stays together and is easier for little ones to eat.
I love when Kay is involved with her meals as well. It not only makes it more fun, but also more appetizing to her. She always loves whatever she makes! She’s come so far with all her food allergies and it’s crazy to think that just last year bananas and strawberries were her only safe foods. Now she has so many safe foods that we only know what her trigger foods are. It’s such a blessing to see her finally eating and enjoying so many different foods. These past few weeks she has really started to enjoy eating more so we’re really excited trying all new recipes.
We hope you enjoy our Oat Free Quinoa Oatmeal Breakfast! It’s a great option for those who cannot eat soy or even if you want more of a fiber boost to your day. You can add whatever fruit you like into this breakfast too.
