    Dairy Free Recipes

Having multiple food allergies is tough, but a dairy allergy is one of the hardest. There is dairy in everything! That's why we make almost everything homemade and limit our outdoor eating.

Don't fear if you have a dairy allergy; you can still enjoy all your favorites like our dinner rolls, Oreo cupcakes (we freeze these too!) cream of mushroom soup, dairy free hot chocolate mix, the creamiest and most delicious broccoli potato soup, and yes, you can still enjoy mashed potatoes like our red skin mashed potatoes!

Our favorite swap items for dairy free recipes are Oatly full-fat milk, Planet Oat milk, Enjoy Life Foods chocolate chips and chunks, Country Crock Plant Butter, and Earth Balance Butter.

Our top picks for dairy free alternative products that are safe for our family:

Dairy Free Milk - We use Oatly full fat or Planet Oat Unsweetened. We use Oatly full fat milk for recipes you'd use heavy cream (for non-whipping purposes) and even as a dairy free buttermilk when mixed with a bit of vinegar. Our favorite dairy free whipping cream is Country Crock Plant Cream.

Dairy Free Chocolate Chips - We use Enjoy Life Foods Chocolate Chips and Chunks. We especially love their rice milk chips. A more affordable option that we like is Trader Joe's semi-sweet chocolate chips which we have been getting lately when we do a lot of baking.

Dairy Free Butter - We use Country Crock Plant Butter. Get the tubs for spreading and the sticks for baking.

Dairy Free Cheese - We love Follow Your Heart Finely Shredded Cheddar Cheese and Finely Shredded Mozzarella. We also like their Gouda, parmesan, and provolone. Another option for parmesan cheese is Violife, and we like that you can grate it yourself.

Dairy Free Cream Cheese - For taste and texture we love Violife's new cream cheese. It comes in a box and has a plastic wrapped cream cheese "brick" inside. For texture we use Toffuti, but it has a strong taste. We also like the original Violife cream cheese for flavor, but it melts when it hits a toasted bagel.

Dairy Free Sour Cream - We like Toffuti, but not alone. It's good flavored. Wayfare is okay, but it tastes more like a bean paste. Violife has come out with a new one that is delicious plain.

Dairy Free Yogurt - Dairy Free Oui yogurt is by far the best tasting yogurt you will find. A runner-up would be Silk Coconut milk yogurt.
