HOW DOES COPY CAT MAGIC SHELL WORK?

Our magic shell ingredients are chocolate and coconut oil. Coconut oil starts off as a solid, but once you melt it with the chocolate it hardens rapidly when you pour it over ice cream, this is due to the coconut oil turning to a solid quickly, quicker than just chocolate would.

WAYS TO USE MAGIC SHELL

We love using it on our ice cream cupcakes pictured above in our homemade chocolate cups. You can pour over ice cream, sorbets, vegan banana ice cream, or even frozen fruit!

HOW TO MAKE MAGIC SHELL

how to make magic shell step by step photos

  1. To make this DIY magic shell you’ll need 2 ingredients – chocolate chips and refined coconut oil, that’s it!
  2. Heat the chocolate chips and coconut oil in 30-second intervals in the microwave, mixing in between each time, until it forms a smooth sauce.
  3. Pour over your favorite frozen treat and watch the magic happen!

HOW DO YOU STORE MAGIC SHELL?

You can store it at room temperature. We store ours in a glass jar.

WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU REFRIGERATE MAGIC SHELL?

It will harden, but it also may harden at room temperature. If it becomes solid you can run the container under warm water or microwave if needed.

RECIPE NOTES:

  • When picking the magic shell ingredients pick ones you prefer, don’t use chocolate you wouldn’t eat plain.
  • Make it flavored by adding in extracts like mint, cherry, orange, or your favorite flavors.
  • Use refined coconut oil so it doesn’t have have a strong flavor, refined is neutral.
  • If you refrigerate it will become solid, just run under warm water in the container to melt or use the microwave if needed.
