Air Fryers are a must have in the kitchen! They cook up your favorite fried foods with less fat and of course little to no oil! Many readers swear by our air fryer baked potato and air fryer sweet potato. Many swear by the instant pot, but I swear by the air fryer – it’s easy to use and the food comes out delicious every single time.

These air fryer chicken wings with hot sauce are crispy and make the perfect appetizer for game day or just any day you’re craving good crispy chicken wings.

Not only are chicken wings in the air fryer a little healthier, but they’re also easier to clean up after cooking. Plus won’t stink up the whole house as deep frying does. They’re Crispy chicken wings on the outside and juicy and tender on the inside, with much less grease. Who else hates biting into a pile of grease filled food?

how to make chicken wings in the air fryer

To make chicken wings in the air fryer you want to start off with fresh (or frozen) chicken wings.

Pat the wings dry with some paper towel so they can get extra crispy.

Place them on a single layer on the air fryer basket or tray and then cook for about 10 minutes at 375 degrees F and then flip.

Cook for another 10 minutes, flip again, increase the temperature 400 degrees F then cook for about 5-10 more minutes and.

how long to cook chicken wings in the air fryer

Air Fryer Chicken Wings cook time depends on fresh or frozen wings. Fresh chicken wings should be fully cooked in about 25 minutes to 30 minutes tota

how to cook frozen chicken wings in the air fryer

Just add about 5-10 minutes when air frying frozen wings.

The trick to making the air fried wings crispy is arranging them so they’re not on top of each other, reducing cook time and increasing crispiness. If you overpack you can run into some areas that aren’t cooked as well.

Once the wings are out of the air fryer put them in a bowl. Whip up our buffalo wing sauce and then toss to coat.

hot sauce recipe for baked hot wings

My dad’s hot sauce recipe is perfect for these air fried crispy chicken wings. He was known for his hot wing recipe! You can make it extra hot by using less butter or make it milder by using more butter.

Don’t like hot sauce? My husband loves them with hot sauce or our homemade bbq sauce or you could even use our sweet and sour sauce recipe.

how to reheat chicken wings in the air fryer

Place the chicken wings on the air fryer rack or tray and then cook at 400 degrees F for about 5-7 minutes or until hot and crispy. They’re fully cooked so it shouldn’t take too long.

what is the best air fryer?

Using an air fryer oven will give you more cooking space. Our favorite air fryer oven is the Cuisinart air fryer toaster oven. We use it for toasting, baking, and of course air frying. The Cuisinart does not contain any Teflon which makes it safe if you have birds. You can’t use any cookware, bakeware, or devices with Teflon without risking the life of your birds. They make a smaller model now as well.

tips for the best air fryer chicken wings

    • Always dry the wings before air frying them – this ensures you’ll get a crispy chicken wing.
    • Skip the cooking spray, there’s no need to add any grease as the skin on the wings will add enough.
    • To make perfectly crispy chicken wings in the air fryer just arrange them in a single layer. If you want to do more than a single layer, make sure you toss them enough so they all evenly cook just like wings in the deep fryer.
    • If cooking in batches you can keep the wings warm in your regular oven or even try making baked chicken wings.

Serve these hot wings along with some of our easy coleslaw to tame the heat. Some swear by drinking a glass of milk after eating spicy food and it definitely works!
