Easy banana soft serve made in the GreenPan Frost or other home ice cream machines with real bananas. Enjoy as soft serve or freeze for later!

This Banana Soft Serve is naturally sweet, creamy, and smooth, made with real bananas and designed to work beautifully in the GreenPan Frost. You only need two ripe medium bananas for the base to have plenty of flavor without overpowering the soft serve or the texture. The result is a light, airy soft serve that still feels rich and satisfying.

Bananas bring natural sweetness and extra creaminess to the soft serve base and of course that delicious banana flavor. This soft serve is perfect on its own, but it also works well as a base for chocolate drizzle, chocolate chips, peanut butter sauce, or chopped nuts. I also love mixing in chopped pineapple, chopped cherries, and mini chocolate chips for a banana split ice cream!

    Quick Bites About This Recipe

    Skill Level: Easy and beginner-friendly.
Swaps: Dairy-free milk and plant-based cream work well here.
Make Ahead: Base can be blended and chilled up to 2 days in advance, but add the mashed bananas right before churning to prevent browning.
Freezer Friendly: Can be frozen and enjoyed later as scoopable ice cream.
Variations & Substitutions: Add cinnamon, peanut butter, or chocolate chips after dispensing.

    Banana Soft Serve Ingredients

Full-fat milk: Keeps the base fluid and helps the Frost spin smoothly. Full-fat matters for structure.
Heavy cream: Adds richness and prevents the soft serve from freezing too firm.
Granulated sugar: Sweetens and lowers the freezing point for a smooth, non-icy texture.
Instant vanilla pudding mix: Just one tablespoon adds stability without gumminess.
Bananas: Two medium bananas add flavor, sweetness, and natural body. Ripe bananas work best.
Vanilla extract: Enhances the banana flavor and gives the soft serve a classic dessert finish.

How to Make Banana Soft Serve

Peel the bananas and add them to a blender along with the sugar, and pudding mix. Blend until completely smooth, with no visible banana pieces remaining.

Use the mixture right away or transfer it to a covered container and refrigerate for up to 2 days (without the bananas).

Pour the chilled banana soft serve mixture into the GreenPan Frost mixing bowl. Select Soft Serve and Level 6.

Once the machine finishes and displays “Cool,” dispense immediately and enjoy.

Storing and Reheating (If There’s Any Leftovers!)

Refrigerate: Unspun base can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
Freeze: Finished soft serve can be frozen in an airtight container for up to 1 month.
Enjoying after freezing: Let frozen soft serve sit at room temperature for 10–15 minutes before serving.
