maple sugar cookie ingredients
- Butter – Unsalted butter is great for these cookies, you can also use dairy free like Country Crock plant butter..
- Light Brown Sugar – Make sure to pack the brown sugar into the measuring cup.
- Maple Syrup – Make sure that you are using real maple syrup and not pancake syrup.
- Egg – We recommend using room temperature eggs for cookie recipes.
- Vanilla – The vanilla extract will compliment the maple syrup and bring more warmth flavors.
- Flour – Make sure to measure the dry ingredients properly, we use the spoon and level method.
- Baking Soda – This will help give the cookies a nice and fluffy texture.
- Cinnamon – The cinnamon adds a nice warm tone to the maple syrup cookies.
- Powdered Sugar – If the powdered sugar is lumpy then place through a sifter to remove lumps.
- Milk – For a dairy free option we recommend Oatly full fat.
- Toppings – You can add edible sprinkles, edible luster dust, roasted pecans, crumbled bacon, or leave the cookies bare just with the glaze.
Recipe tips and variations
- Make sure to take time to cream the butter and sugar together. This is going to help add texture to your cookies.
- Don’t overmix the batter or it can make the cookies dense and chewier.
- The glaze is going to enhance the flavor of the cookies, but you can leave it off if you want.
- I do recommend using a cookie scoop to ensure the cookies are the same size.
