Slow Cooker Pork Chops and Potatoes always makes for a quick and easy slow cooker dinner! Set this in the morning and cook on low for 6-8 hours or set in the early afternoon and cook for 3-4 hours.

slow cooker pork chops and potatoes

When the leaves start falling I crave comfort food and pork chops and potatoes in the slow cooker are one of our favorites! We love making this recipe as is, but we also love adding in carrots and celery. When you add those two veggies it takes on the flavors of a freshly made chicken pot pie, but with pork! Seve with some homemade biscuits for a filling and delicious home cooked meal!

    easy crockpot pork chops

I love meals that are set and forget. I just let the crock pot pork chops and potatoes cook while I’m doing things and no need to babysit the cooking process.

To keep this simple I use most ingredients that we all have in the house. You can make this slow cooker pork chops potatoes with mushroom soup, cream of chicken soup, or even cream of celery soup. My husband isn’t a fan of mushroom so when I make for him with the cream of chicken soup. If he’ll be missing dinner due to work I’ll use mushroom sometimes.

How to make Slow Cooker Pork Chops and Potatoes

I don’t just throw the pork chops into the crockpot. I like to cook them on the skillet with a little salt and pepper on a skillet to give them a nice crust. This really brings out some flavor as well and makes for a better presentation than just letting the slow cooker cook pork chops. They get a nice browned color.

While I brown the pork chops I like to cut up the potatoes and get those into the slow cooker.

Then I dump in the soup and seasonings and give it a good mix.

I add boneless pork chops in the crock pot once they’re nice and browned.

How long do you cook pork chops in the crockpot?

I like to cook these for 3-4 hours on high or 6-8 hours on low.

Once the slow cooker pork chops and potatoes are done I serve with a biscuit and a side salad. My family loves this comforting slow cooker fall meal and we hope you do too!

This came out better than expected. Great flavor. Followed instructions but added baby carrots as well. I thought this might be good with chicken too. Thank you for sharing this recipe!

Fantastic! Most tender chops ever. I put a large can of green beans that had been drained in the bottom. Three large sliced potatoes on top of the beans. Chopped carrots celery and onions on top of the potatoes. One can of cream of mushroom soup instead of cream of chicken. I mixed the seasonings, chicken broth & soup together and poured over the top. Placed the bone-in pork chops on top. Cooked for 3 hours on high. EXCELLENT!!

Just curious if you leave the chops on top before cooking or do you put the chops down into the mix before cooking.

I wiggle them in a little, but try to keep them on top so the potatoes cook nicely. Also I do sear them prior 🙂

Making this today because I need something simple. What do you think about adding frozen peas and carrots?

They’re a great addition! We suggest adding in the last 30 minutes of cooking. 🙂

Overall a good recipe although I did make quite a few variations. I added a lot of extra vegetables as we are big vegie
eaters. I had to thicken the sauce quite a lot so maybe next time I won’t add as much stock. Also I added canned
mushrooms in butter sauce instead of soup as I have gluten intolerance and can’t eat most processed canned soups.

I made this for the first time in my crockpot. I followed most of the recipe, however, I used cream of mushroom soup, added baby carrots, slices onions & a seasoning packet of ranch dressing. Also I used only one cup of chicken broth. I cooked it for 4 1/2 hours on high. It turned out delicious. I did not have to make a slurry, as the sauce was perfect! Thank you for the recipe.

Made exactly as written, the chops were great (loin chops) the potatoes were great, but the sauce was disgusting. Should never have had thyme in it, and the celery seeds were totally out of place. Should not have added celery either. Would be great with a better sauce. And why would anyone add canned soup? Not good at all. Will NOT make again.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. I’m sorry to hear the recipe wasn’t to your liking. This is one of our most popular recipes, with many rave reviews from others who have enjoyed it. I understand that tastes vary, especially with seasonings like thyme and celery seed, which may not suit everyone. I appreciate you trying the recipe as written and hope you find a version that aligns better with your preferences. I’m glad the chops and potatoes turned out well!

I am trying today, I did not have chicken broth, so I created th sauce with cream of mushroom and 1 can of milk. I’m hoping this will thicken the sauce, I am cooking on low for 6-8 hours. Do you think this will be OK?

There may be a little less flavor from not using the chicken broth. We hope it turned out delicious!
