Slow Cooker Stuffing - traditional stuffing made in the crockpot, perfect for Thanksgiving or whenever you want this as a side dish!

Must Make Slow Cooker Stuffing! Our Traditional Stuffing is slow-cooked in the slow cooker freeing stove space during the holidays. This post is sponsored by BJ’s Wholesale Club.

    slow cooker stuffing

Everyone loves the sides on the holidays, but unfortunately, there’s only so much room in the oven. That’s where the slow cooker comes in handy. We love making whatever we can on the stovetop or in the slow cooker so we can roast whatever we need to in the oven.

    ingredients for homemade stuffing

INGREDIENTS YOU’LL NEED FOR SLOW COOKER STUFFING

    • Wellsley Farms Celery Sticks
    • Wellsley Farms Organic Yellow Onions
    • Wellsley Farms Organic Butter, unsalted
    • Wellsley Farms Italian Bread
    • Poultry Seasoning
    • Chicken Broth
    • Salt and pepper to taste

I like to head to my local BJ’s Wholesale Club pretty early to get the bread. I let it sit for a day before using and then slice it up and bake it to make it into stale bread cubes, almost like croutons. This really helps it absorb the broth and all the flavors.

WHAT OTHER VEGGIES CAN I ADD?

This is a classic stuffing recipe, but I definitely encourage you to get creative and add your favorite veggies in as well! Here are a few that we’ve tried and loved!

    • Mushrooms
    • Artichokes
    • Asparagus
    • Carrots
    • Butternut Squash

I can find all the items we need for our stuffing and other dishes for the holiday right at my local BJ’s . Everything is fresh! The products are of great quality, fresh, and affordable! You can save nearly 25% on your groceries with their great valued items.

HOW TO MAKE STUFFING IN A CROCKPOT

    1. Slice bread into bite-size pieces, place the bread onto a baking sheet and bake in the oven until dry and slightly crispy, not browned.
    2. In a large skillet combine the butter, celery, onions, and seasonings. Cook until veggies are slightly tender.
    3. Add the bread cubes to a large bowl and then cover with chicken broth and cooked veggies, mix until combined.
    4. Pour the stuffing mixture into your slow cooker and then cook for 40-60 minutes on high, stir, and then cook for 2-3 hours on low.
    5. Serve once fully cooked, the temperature should be about 165 degrees F.

    RECIPE NOTES:

    • If you like crunchy stuffing just toss it into the toaster and crisp it up!
    • You can add more veggies, but careful with watery veggies – you may need to reduce the amount of liquid or increase the amount of bread.
    • This recipe can also be baked in the oven in a baking dish or muffin tins.
    • Store any leftovers in an airtight container and reheat in the oven or microwave.
    • You can make this a vegan stuffing by using vegan butter and vegetable broth.
